Long Ruijun, a professor at Lanzhou University's School of Life Sciences, was a senior ecologist with the International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development (ICIMOD) from 2016 to 2019.

While working in Pakistan, he shared techniques used in China's Gansu Province in the fields of biomass energy, solar energy and sustainable agriculture development practices.

According to Long, these techniques can be widely applied to agricultural practices in Pakistan and other countries which have long been plagued by energy shortages.

Two months ago, Long mailed some alfalfa seeds and oat seeds to Pakistan to help it with forage production and demonstration.

Long is working to deepen cooperation with Central and South Asian countries by setting up more integrated agricultural demonstration sites to promote partners' agricultural production efficiency and guarantee food security and livelihood.
