Expats try paper-cutting ahead of Spring Festival

Some 20 foreign experts from seven countries, including the United States, France, Indonesia, Thailand, were invited to celebrate the upcoming Lunar New Year with paper-cutting in Nanning, Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, on Sunday.

In China, pasting paper-cuttings, an intangible heritage of China, on windows or doors is an tradition during the festival.

Pattama Surit, an professor from Thailand who now works at Guangxi University of Chinese Medicine, said, "This would be my first Spring Festival in China. I have learned many traditional custom this time besides the paper-cutting, which makes me feel warm and happy."

According to the Administration of Foreign Experts Affairs of Guangxi, the organizer of this activity, Guangxi is seeing more and more foreign experts as it speeds up opening-up. In order to attract more outstanding foreign talents , the government has constantly launched actions to facilitate their settlement since 2017, including offering cultural experience and building information platforms for consultancy.
