Organizers held a fashion show on March 28 at the Golden Hall of Beijing Hotel in the Chinese capital to showcase hi-tech materials and the latest works of leading female designer Deng Zhaoping.
Deng borrows the characteristics and culture of her hometown Guangzhou in her designs, such as those for the cheongsam, which last year were shown at the Fortune Global Forum in the city in south China' s Guangdong Province.
During the 35 years of her fashion career, Deng has won numerous awards, such as a Top 10 Fashion Designer in China and Best Womenswear Designer in China.
In a recent commemoration of International Women's Day, Deng won the honorary titles of a Top 10 Craftswoman in South China and a March 8th Red-banner Woman Pace-setter in Guangdong.
"If a person can be engaged in an industry for over 30 years, she must love her career very much," said Deng.
In 1982, Deng began to work in a textile company. In 1996, she founded her own clothing company. In November 2003, her collection on the theme of "The Ancient Tea Route" caused a sensation at the 9th China International Fashion Week.
The next year, she showed her collection called "Ladder to Heaven" for which she won one of the main prizes.
"Of course, it was a great pleasure to win the prizes, but on the other hand, as a designer, so long as my inspiration has not dried up, my best works are always on the way," Deng said.
After a successful 2017, some media claimed her to be "a symbolic figure of Chinese fashion design". So far, she has successfully released over 30 fashion shows at home and abroad.
According to Deng, Guangzhou, with its 2,000-year-old history and rich culture, is a solid foundation for her creations.
"I am a native of Guangzhou. I grew up here, so it is my duty to promote Guangzhou culture. I hope to showcase our cultural confidence and cultural identity through my design," Deng concluded.
