Tian Wei, hostess of China Global Television Network (CGTN), is the hostess of the TV programs World Insight with Tian Wei and Dialogue. She also hosted the APEC CEO Summit and the Water Cube Gala dinner performance. Her wise, yet humorous and intimate style was widely appreciated by domestic and international audiences.

Recently, CCTV's official WeChat account, CCTV Aspect, published an article introducing the growth of this outstanding female anchor.
Tian said it is her grandmother who has influenced her the most throughout her life.
During the years in which they were living together, her grandmother's strength, independence, motivation and kind-heartedness was injected into Tian's life like blood. She owes her confident, passionate and modest life attitudes to her grandmother.
It was also her grandmother who strengthened Tian's original intentions and ambitions.
Tian has been particularly interested in English thanks to the influence of Western culture. However, her father wanted her to inherit his career and choose to study engineering, which made Tian, who wanted to learn English, distressed.
Fortunately, her grandmother was very forward-looking in supporting Tian's freedom to choose her own aspirations and determine her own life path.
In 2002, as the only female reporter of China Radio International (CRI) stationed outside, Tian's daily job was to get the "scoop" on the news in the press conference room.
However, according to the established rules, in the hall with only ten rows of seats, Tian could only sit in the rear rows like a 'bench player'.
As the most insignificant member of the release hall, Tian felt that she had to do something to get the spokesperson's attention and get the opportunity to ask questions. So, in those days, Tian went to the press release hall and asked questions every day.
"You can ignore me once or twice, but you cannot ignore me three times," said Tian.
Due to her perseverance, the spokesperson finally noticed her, but gave a very perfunctory answer to her question.
Tian was not satisfied. In the following days, she kept asking the same question so many times that the spokesman had to take her questions seriously and gave an unpublished official reply. Tian still feels extremely proud whenever she mentions this experience.
In 2003, SARS broke out in China, Tian was in Washington then. She checked the domestic news on the Internet every few hours. She was eager to know what was happening in China and what she could do for her people.
In 2004, she decided to end her work in Washington and return home. After her return, Tian was transferred to CCTV and served as the hostess on the English news channels, hosting two programs, Dialogue and World Insight.
Sometimes, in order to make an hour's program, she needed to spend twice that amount of time to do the preparatory work. She believes only when she has her own opinions on certain problems can she talk honestly and equally with guests.
At the same time, Tian was well aware that it is not the host's job to stand out on the program. What creates the best program is choosing the most appropriate guests, mobilizing their ideas, and providing the most meaningful information for the audience. Therefore, it is important to ask good questions.
In 2017, as a invited speaker at Peking University, Tian also stressed that as a reporter or an anchor, no matter who you are interviewing, "do not look up, do not look down, but look at the same level with your interviewee(s)."
Tian, who is constantly advancing her news career, does not forget to give time to her passion for public welfare activities.
In 2017, as the national mental health publicity ambassador, Tian participated in the Peer Support campaign in Beijing and played games together with people with intellectual disabilities.
On the 99 Public Welfare Day, Tian also collaborated with mental health workers, doctors, and social workers to record a video, Company, calling for everyone to pay attention to mental health.
Tian was also the Young Global Leader at the Davos Forum.
In 2013, Tian participated in the World Economic Forum in Davos for the first time as a Young Global Leader. She used to come as a media leader.
After the forum , Tian said, "With other young global leaders, I feel a kind of power which can be infectious."
"The purpose of the forum is to make the world a better place. Whether as a young global leader or a media leader here, what I am actually doing is adding a little bit of strength to make the world better," Tian added.
