Ma Jinlian, a worker on Lüliang Mountain, north China's Shanxi Province, has been working to help locals shake off poverty for two years.
Ma answered a call to take part in a job training course for people living in the area in April 2006 and later went to Beijing to work in a domestic services company.
Thanks to her efforts, she soon became a manager, which provided her with the chance to recruit over 300 women in her hometown to work in the capital alongside her.
"I spent six months learning and finally decided to start a domestic services company of my own last year," Ma recalled. She named it Lüliang Yixing Housekeeping Services Co.
She has praised and supported people in her hometown to encourage more and more to take part in the training and raise their salaries.
In 2017, over 10,000 people finished free training courses in Lvliang City, and over 4,200 of them have found jobs.
Some trainees even started their own companies like Ma.
Now, Ma is in charge of a service station at Beijing Institute of Technology. "As I'm from the first batch of trainees of housekeeping workers from Lüliang Mountain, I'm a leader and pioneer in getting rich.
"I hope to let more sisters in my hometown realize their dreams and get rid of poverty, too," Ma concluded.
