A woman technician from Northeast China's Jilin Province gained high praise from the general public after her story went viral on social media.
Tang Xiaoling has been engaged in meteorological monitoring at the Meteorological Bureau of Jilin Province since 2003.
Boasting of an abundance of forest resources, Jilin is a key area for fire prevention.
To guarantee their work progresses well, Tang and her colleagues are on duty by rotation.
Years of work experience has enabled her to give a quick response upon finding any problems.
On May 7, 2015, Tang and her colleagues spotted a fire on the border with Russia. They immediately contacted the Forest Fire Prevention Department of Jinlin Province, reporting the conditions. After two days' efforts, the fire was put out.
Tang's work can be tiring, but she has never complained.
Knowing her work was recognized by the people, she said, "This honor belongs to all of us."
She also referred to the role satellite monitoring plays in her work.
"Advanced technology has many advantages, including wide coverage and high frequency and accuracy," Tang said.
"Thanks to it, we can spot flames more quickly and save time in fire fighting," she added.
