Republika Srpska, one of two entities of Bosnia and Herzegovina(BiH), received 80,000 doses of China's Sinopharm COVID-19 vaccine on Wednesday.

Milorad Dodik, Chairman of Presidency of BiH, and Chinese Ambassador to BiH Ji Ping jointly welcomed the arrival of the vaccine.

Speaking to the media at the scene, Dodik said he was satisfied with the speed with which the Chinese vaccine had arrived.

According to the official data, fewer than 90,000 BiH citizens had received one dose of COVID-19 vaccines by May, which included thousands who traveled to neighboring Serbia to get vaccinated, due to a lack of vaccines in the country.

BiH, with a population of 3.5 million, has recorded 197,866 COVID-19 cases and 8,512 deaths by April 30.
