Zhongfan acrobatics is an ancient folk art in China and a precious heritage of Chinese folk art. It originated in the Tang and Song Dynasties with a history stretching back more than a thousand years.
The Zhongfan is a medium sized pole with an ornate flag on top, used ceremonially and in competition. It originated from the flagpole of the Royal Guard of Honour, and later evolved into a folk performance at temple fairs. A Zhongfan performance or Zhongfan dancing is a traditional acrobatic event.
