This is a five-part video series featuring joint efforts made by Chinese and African individuals and institutions in seeking common progress in fields such as education, medical services and wildlife protection.

Meet Angela Yeung at the foot of Mount Kilimanjaro, one of Africa’s highest mountains. Angela is not a mountaineer. She works as a jewelry designer and thrives at the peak of South Africa society. Her mountaineering adventure was all about giving something back to her adopted home.

A 2014 UNESCO report estimates that 1 in 10 girls in Sub-Saharan Africa miss 20 percent of their schooling because of their menstrual peripds. Many girls in the province where Angela grew up miss 50 school days a year. During menstruation, girls just sit at home waiting for it to pass.

Angela, who is originally from Hong Kong, came to their aid. She climbed Mount Kilimanjaro to raise funds to purchase sanitary pads for students.
