China's 14th National Games officially opened in Shaanxi Province on September 15, the first time that a west China's province has held the quadrennial multi-sport event since the inaugural edition in 1959.

All people in Shaanxi, nearly 40 million of them, are celebrating the event, including 82-year-old Zhang Zhizhong, a former motorboat athlete who attended the 1st National Games held in 1959. His love for sports has lasted for more than half a century and he still spares no efforts to promote sports among elderly people nowadays. At the community fitness square, he has been teaching his peers fitness qigong each day since 2012.
