Ethiopia on Monday morning received the third batch of COVID-19 vaccine doses donated by the Chinese government.

Zhao Zhiyuan, Chinese Ambassador to Ethiopia, Ethiopia Minister of Health Lia Tadesse and Getahun Mekuria, Ethiopia Minister of Education attended the handover ceremony.

Ethiopia has so far reported the highest COVID-19 caseload in the East Africa region with 295,804 COVID-19 cases reported and 4,561 COVID-19 related deaths.

China and Ethiopia elevated their bilateral relations to a Comprehensive Strategic Cooperative Partnership in 2017, further lifting their already close partnership.
