This year marks the 70th anniversary of the peaceful liberation of Tibet. Remarkable changes have taken place in Tibet in the past decades.

The Lhasa-Nyingchi railway officially began operation on June 25, when trains passed through southeast Tibet for the very first time.

It was also the first time that a Fuxing bullet train — a train independently developed by China — transported passengers in Tibet, marking the start of high-speed train services to all Chinese mainland provincial-level regions.

With a length of 435 kilometers and a design speed of 160 kilometers per hour, this single-line electrified railway with nine stations passes through three cities: Lhasa, Shannan and Nyingchi.

One month after the railway’s official opening, People’s Daily reporter Jieqiong went to Tibet and experienced riding the Fuxing bullet train on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau.
