Mi Desheng, an 83-year-old retired research fellow, has spent 30 years compiling an atlas featuring snow mountains with an altitude of over 8,000 meters across the world.

Mi was a surveyor with the Northwest Institute of Eco-environment and Resources (NIEER) under the Chinese Academy of Sciences.

He has visited a number of well-known glaciers and snow mountains in China and other countries and began his work on the atlas in 1988.

The atlas was published by SinoMaps Press recently.
