China has pledged to achieve its carbon emission peak by 2030 and carbon neutrality by 2060. A floating photovoltaic power station in Huainan, east China's Anhui Province is among the country's latest energy conservation and emission reduction efforts.

The facility is built on a lake over a coal mining subsidence area, covering 300 hectares of water area with an installed capacity of 150 megawatts.

Compared with traditional photovoltaic power stations, this floating one uses no land resources. The photovoltaic modules and cables can be cooled down by water, which significantly improves the efficiency of power generation.

The local government is exploring a new industrial development model called "photovoltaic + fishery" to bring stable income to locals.
