A massive earthquake struck Wenchuan in Southwest China's Sichuan Province on May 12, 2008.
In extremely dangerous conditions, 15 paratroopers risked their lives to descend from an altitude of nearly 5,000 meters to the epicenter of the earthquake.
The information obtained through their investigation provided a basis for follow-up rescuers. They also built six landing sites and delivered relief supplies to the epicenter area.
