China's internet giant Baidu has launched a program in Beijing to offer free trials of its self-driving taxi service from Sunday. The pilot service, which serves certain stops in a part of the city from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., will operate until Nov. 6, according to Baidu. Passengers must be between 18 and 60 years of age, with safety officers on board. Baidu Apollo, Baidu's self-driving division, has more than 150 self-driving road test licenses and owns 1,800 global intelligent driving patents. Its vehicles have covered more than 6 million km during road tests and safely carried more than 100,000 passengers.
