In Shenyang city of Liaoning Province, an otherworldly land of shimmering ice and brilliant colors has attracted crowds of citizens and tourists on its opening day.

The city's historical landmarks have been recreated in 122 ice sculptures and 43 snow sculptures.

The artists have breathed new life into the city's 400-year history.
