To commemorate the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China, a CPC member in Kunming, Yunnan province, spent three years riding a bicycle along the Long March route taken by the Red Army from 1934 to 1936.

Wu Rui, who retired from teaching, started his journey in February 2019 from Ruijin, Jiangxi province, where the Red Army began its march. The 57-year-old returned to Kunming on June 4 after completing the round trip of 25,000 kilometers.

He went through more than 400 counties in 11 provinces and regions.

During the journey, he overcame many difficulties. He went to hospitals three times after getting sick.

"As an old CPC member, I hope to use the ride to arouse the Chinese people's memory of the Long March launched by the Red Army. The Long March spirit is a precious treasure for us to realize national rejuvenation," he said.
