Micro-sculptor Wang Tianming, 71, is a provincial level master of arts and crafts known for his miniature sculptures. Wang can not only carve microscopic figures on jade, tea kettles and grains of rice, but also on a single strand of human hair. The artist has been meticulously crafting so detailed figures for 35 years. Micro-carving, in Wang's eyes, is a craftsmanship of feeling. Yet the feeling can only be acquired along the day-after-day practice. "As a micro-sculptor," said Wang, "You certainly need to have basic knowledge of Chinese calligraphy and painting, but the bottom line is to be patient." (Photo by Zhao Xiaoming/Xinhua)
