Yang Mei, 39, is a tea planter in Danzhai County of Qiandongnan Miao and Dong Autonomous Prefecture, southwest China's Guizhou Province.
She started tea business at 19. In 2000, Yang returned home after graduation and learned how to grow tea from her father.
Supported by her family, Yang built a tea garden of 200 mu (about 13 hectares).
In 2008, Yang set up a company dedicated to growing and making tea. From planting seedlings, plucking leaves, to making and selling tea products, Yang has spent a lot of time and money to make sure her tea taste good. Thanks to her efforts, products of her company are now sold in many countries including the U.K., the U.S. and Russia.
By now, Yang's company has evolved into one with over 1,000 tea planters and tea gardens of more than 133 hectares.
Most of the planters are local farmers. They will come to help in busy seasons. Every year they can earn over 2,000 yuan (about 289 U.S. dollars) at Yang's gardens.
