A 20-year-old blind girl, Yang Hong, from Taihe County of east China's Jiangxi Province, recently spoke of how her teacher has helped her turn from a blind massager into a radio anchor.

Yang was sent to study in a special school for blind people at the age of seven.

During her high-school education, Chen was trained in professional blind massage skills. After graduation, she went back to her hometown and became a blind massager.

Yang found the work boring and tedious; she routinely received seven to eight customers a day when busiest.

During her break time, she liked to listen to the radio in the lounge. Gradually, she developed a strong interest in broadcasting and hosting.

Yang hoped to become a radio anchor one day so that millions of listeners could listen to her radio programs.

In 2017, Yang signed up to attend a professional training class for broadcasting and hosting.

Three times a week she would learn professional knowledge from her teacher Wang Ying, who helped her correct her pronunciation, control her breath and posture.

After the class, Yang routinely wrote down the contents with braille, and practiced continuously.

At the work place, she also practiced her pronunciation and recited articles during her break time.

Seeing her efforts, Yang's colleagues and family members all gave her great support.

In March 2018, the Taihe County Sports Media Center held an activity to celebrate the Lantern Festival, in which Yang impressed the audiences with her sweet voice, which she projected with appropriate feelings.

Thus, the Taihe County Sports Media Center specially invited her to become an anchor for their network broadcast.

"This was the first step for me to achieve my dream," Yang told the reporter.

Now, Yang still works as a massager and anchor, whilst learning more about broadcasting.

With greater efforts than others, she is pursuing her dream steadily, convinced that through unremitting efforts, her dream would one day come true.

"Learning about broadcasting makes me happy and more confident, and helps me find the right direction to move forward. There are many people in my life who have helped me, so I also hope to inspire more people with my own voice," Yang said.
