Jinchihe Village is a Bai ethnic minority village in the Dali Bai Autonomous Prefecture in southwest China's Yunnan Province. It was named as China's Characteristic Village of Minority Groups by the State Ethnic Affairs Commission of the People's Republic of China in 2013.
Jinchihe is also an important artery along the ancient tea trade route in southwest China.
The wedding costumes of Bai brides are worn the day after they get married and consist of two parts: clothing and accessories.
With the basic colors of black and red, the wedding dress, with a loose and elegant style, is decorated with patterned embroidery, such as birds and flowers, which shows the harmonious beauty of nature.
Embroidery is a traditional handicraft skill for local Bai women. They often embroider traditional patterns including fish, birds and flowers on objects such as clothes, hats, shoes, and sachets.
Furthermore, local Bai cuisine is very nutritious and tasty, especially the Eight Dishes for the Eight Immortals, consisting of five meat dishes and three vegetable dishes, are often served at celebrations in Heqing.
The traditional houses, the local costume and culinary culture have been well-protected and passed down, since the project to protect and develop characteristic villages of ethnic minorities was implemented in Jinchihe in 2009.
