A woman in central China's Henan province has achieved a lot in leading villagers on a path to prosperity over the past 40 years.
Jinghua was a production team in Dongjie Village of Xinxiang County in Henan province a few decades ago. The Village was of ill repute for its severe poverty. In 1972, Liu Zhihua was elected as the team leader, thereby embarking on the path of leading more than 380 villagers from 101 households to fight against poverty through the transformation of the land.
After the 3rd Plenary Session of the 11th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, Liu boldly intended to lead the entire group of farmers to achieve wealth by making a sideline business and setting up a 7-member women's group.
In 1980, Liu established the first yuba factory with the group members' savings as the fund and the local soybean resources as the raw materials.
One year later, she set up a second yuba factory with a daily output of 1 ton, doubling its production capacity. In 1983, under Liu's leadership, the factory began to produce Beijing traditional flavored soy products, which were in high demand for over ten years.
Liu also led the villagers in the establishment of more than ten factories, including a cannery, in quick succession. In 1985, Liu established the Jinghua Industrial Company. By 1989, the company's total output value had reached 12.6 million yuan, over 100 times that of 1980.
In 1993, Liu seized the opportunity when she found that the local people who have better off started to travel all around the country. The company expanded construction of the Jinghuayuan Tourist Area, which attracted tourists to flock in, and recovered its original investment in less than two years' time. She then built the Jinghua spa sanatorium, health center, resort, and commercial street, turning the village into a tourist city.
Afterwards, Liu also made attempts in education field. Since 1999, she has invested more than 40 million yuan to build kindergartens, experimental primary and middle schools, recruiting students from society and providing quality education resources for rural children.
In 2003, the company was engaged in the new technology industry, and their products were exported to dozens of countries and regions across the world. At present, the company has a fixed asset of 2.9 billion yuan and a per capita income of 5.28 million yuan.
In 2009, her company announced that the national 4A-level scenic spot Jinghuayuan would be open to the public free of charge. Over the years, it has reduced the ticket price and therefore income by nearly 100 million yuan, which has benefited thousands of tourists.
In 2010, Liu built Jinghua Community with the consent of all the villagers, which has seen the urban management public security brigade set up responsible for the sanitation and security of the five-square-kilometer community in Jongjie village, and over 200,000 yuan spent for medical insurance coverage for more than 3,000 primary and middle school students and community residents. She also invested over 40 million yuan to build the nearly 20,000 square meter Jinghua Cultural Center featuring historical exhibition halls, children's playgrounds, women's homes, and reading rooms.
There are also sports games held in spring and autumn and poetry reading competitions to create a positive cultural atmosphere in the cultural center.
Speaking of the key to her current success, Liu summed up in three aspects: Firstly,  she has always adhered to the correct ideological guidance of the Party; over the past forty years she has had her communist belief reinforced, and her lofty ideals, noble morality and dedication are translated into her practice.
Secondly, she also held democratic life meetings on a regular basis, carrying out activities to make self-criticisms and always maintaining the advanced nature of Party members.
In addition, she actively promoted the officials and the Party members to perform and develop under the supervision of the masses, and gave priority to the improvement of the overall quality of local farmers.
