Have you dreamed about having an ancient, beautiful house with the garden located near the mountains? A Beijing woman named Nizi made her dream come true by renovating an old house in Yangshuo, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, southern China.

In 2013, she passed by a village accidentally in Yangshuo and was attracted to the pastoral scenery,antiquities and relative peace of the surrounding village. She saw an old house with a dilapidated yard and was touched by its fragmentary walls. She believes this is her spiritual home and by renovating it, she is preserving and passing the house down in history to the next generation.

A 64-year-old local man is looking after the house right at the moment. Everyday he cleans the floor, raises flowers and plays with birds. He claims he has a life without sorrows and anxiety. Indeed, nature can bring peace, a beautiful environment delivers joy to so many others.

In recent years, many Chinese city residents are looking forward to owning a house with a garden in the countryside. With rapid development of the economy, Chinese cities are getting bigger and busier. The tall apartment buildings have replaced most old houses, trees and the grass are giving way to wider roads. But many people still keep their pastoral dreams alive, like a popular Chinese saying goes, "There's more to life than making a living."
